Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. With many of our local businesses at great risk of closing due to the impact of the COVID crisis, we need to do everything we can to keep good jobs available and good employers open. Ensuring that our local automotive repair shops continue to have access to the information they need to service our vehicles is critical. Massachusetts led the way with the original Right to Repair bill, and we should lead again.

Level the playing field so that your local shop can compete with dealerships, and don't fall victim to scare tactics.

The Newbury Democratic Town Committee have long been supporters of Ranked Choice Voting. This simple and straightforward voting system lets you easily express your choices in order, and know that your opinions will count. Voters no longer need to be strategic in their votes, and do not need to question the risk of "throwing their vote away".

Ranked choice voting is easy. Fill out your ballot by putting a check in the ‘first choice’ column next to your favorite candidate, in the ‘second choice’ column for your next favorite candidate, and so on.

Candidates run better, cleaner campaigns because they are running to get majority support, not just to defeat one opponent. The winner of the election will have had support from the majority of voters, which means everybody wins.

Candidates

The Newbury Dems have endorsed all Democrats representing Newbury running for State and Federal Office in 2020

Christina Eckert

State Representative

Christina Eckert is a community advocate and leader. She has spent the last 13 years devoting her time to education, senior issues, community building, and environmental protection. The Newbury Dems are excited to endorse Christina for MA House 2nd Essex.

As a long-time resident of our district, she has served our community in many roles: Co-Executive Director of Merrimack River Watershed Council; Co-Founder and President of Masconomet Education Foundation; Board Member of the Boxford Council on Aging; Director of the Boxford Park Program; and Director of Development at Community Giving Tree.

Eileen Duff

Governor's Council

Eileen Duff is a long-time friend of the Newbury Dems. With a direct line of contact to the Governor, Governors Council members approve or disapprove of judiciary appointments and provide advice on issues of pardons or commutations. Eileen has used her background in consensus building and public policy to ensure that there is a level playing field for all judicial applicants and to ensure fair trials for ordinary citizens.

Seth Moulton

Congress

In serving his constituents, Congressman Moulton has secured billions of dollars in investments for good-paying jobs and training in our district, and has secured millions of dollars in earned federal benefits for seniors and veterans. Recent successful legislative efforts from the congressman on mental health care will establish "988" as the national mental health emergency hotline by 2022.

Seth represents a next generation of leaders fighting for our country, helping elect almost two dozen fellow veterans to the House of Representatives in 2018.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

President and Vice President

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are prepared and ready to fix the failures that the Trump Administration and the GOP's mismanagement of the COVID-19 crisis have left for them. More than ever, America needs experienced leadership to guide us through this disaster. Committed to science, experienced and ready, and prepared to stand up for all of us, Biden and Harris are the only sensible vote this November. It is time to start leading again.

The Newbury Dems are ready to take back the White House.
